Mumbai: In the first official confirmation from the family, Saif Ali Khan's mother, Sharmila Tagore has confirmed her son’s marriage to actor Kareena Kapoor on October 16. "Yes, that's the date we have decided upon. There will be a reception, too, but not a very big one." The wedding ceremony, said close sources, will be a quiet affair, too. Sources close to Tagore said that Kapoor, like her would be mother-in-law, w ill continue acting in films. "Sharmila’s best innings as an actress started after marriage. Saif was a baby on the sets of one of her best films, 'Aradhana'. Kareena will follow in her footsteps. After marriage, she will do two films a year. Right after she completes Madhur Bhandarkar’s 'Heroine', she’ll begin shooting for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s 'Ram Leela'," said the source. In fact, Kapoor has assured a very worried Bhansali that she will not take a break for her wedding. The wedding, which will be held at the Pataudis’ ancestral home, will only be attended by immediate family members of the couple. Says the source, "Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi died only recently, so the family wanted a low-key wedding. Kareena and her family agreed, too. However, there may be a large reception bash after the wedding, considering both Saif and Kareena have many friends in the film industry." The venue for the wedding reception is still undecided. It may be held in Mumbai on the wedding day itself. Says the source, "The honeymoon, however, will have to wait. Kareena has no intentions of letting her films suffer after marriage."

Legendary disco diva Donna Summer has died, a spokesman confirmed to TheWrap. The "Hot Stuff" and "Last Dance" singer was 63. No cause of death was given, but TMZ reports Summer had been battling cancer. In a statement, Summer's family praise the singer's religious faith. "While we grieve her passing, we are at peace celebrating her extraordinary life and her continued legacy," the statement reads. "Words truly can't express how much we appreciate your prayers and love for our family at this sensitive time." Summer's soaring mezzo-soprano voice and catchy lyrics provided the soundtrack to the 1970s, making it nearly impossible to think of many of that decade's cultural touchstones, be they bellbottoms or disco balls, without calling to mind her hit singles. Among the hits that helped cement Summer's legacy were "She Works Hard for the Money," "Bad Girls," and "Dim All the Lights." She would earn 5 Grammy awards and 17 nominations over the course of her career. Though Summer and disco were nearly interchangeable, she proved herself to be a musical chameleon; one who survived the end of the Studio 54 era and continued to produce chart-topping songs into the 1980s and beyond. Among the genres that Summer branched into were new wave, with her 1980 album "The Wanderer"; swing on her poorly selling 1991 album "Mistaken Identity"; and gospel with her 1994 holiday album "Christmas Spirit."
